Immediately

“Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.” 

John 6:21

Immediately. Jesus calmed the storm, eased the waves, and relieved the wind immediately. He brought them exactly where they were going immediately. The disciples were straining for the land. The chaos was unexpected. The men were completely unprepared for a storm of that caliber. Yet, as situational storms in our own lives do, the unanticipated fell upon them. They were rowing. They were pushing as hard as they could. They were doing everything they knew how to do, just to make it to the other side. There is no record of how long they worked for their desired result. There is no record to tell us how exhausted they were from trying. But the Bible so beautifully reminds us of the truth of our reigning Savior. What surprises, exhausts, and wears creation, Jesus Christ can fix immediately. What takes man days, months, or even years to finally win-Christ can do it immediately. You’re not behind. You’re not running a losing race, because the same Christ that immediately brought the disciples to where they were straining can do the exact same for you! You cannot achieve this yourself. Take that lesson from the disciples. You cannot manipulate God to bring you where you want to go. The “immediately” is given solely through grace. He can do for you what you cannot do for yourself. What a great King!
