Becoming undignified

“I will celebrate before the LORD. I will become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes.” 2 Samuel 6:21b-22a

Undignified celebration to the LORD! Think of the freedom in this! Christ races through your body, blinding you from your distractions-the distractions that so easily paralyze your worship. You’re open, uninhibited, and overflowing with a moving joy and a loud praise! There’s peace. There’s thankfulness! There’s such pure. perfect, and utter satisfaction in undignified celebration to the LORD. But so often we hold ourselves back. We’re too aware of others around us so we fear their eyes. We simply don’t want to stand out because we are so deathly afraid of looking different. How wrong we are. Jesus Christ, King above all kings, was physically ripped open with sharp rocks on a whip. He bled. He was spit on. His organs were exposed. He hung high on a cross, unrecognizable as a human being, all before hundreds of staring, judgmental people-all for you. That is undignified, yet we don’t want to close our eyes in church? Sing at the top of your lungs, unashamed to praise your audience of One. Worship in how you are led to truly worship! Oh, how He delights in your bold worship! Become undignified and truly celebrate your LORD!
