Be Different

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Romans 12:2

If we have the same goals, priorities, and relationships as the world, what is the point of Christianity? We were never called to be the norm, never planned to be common. Christ did not save us from an eternity of separation from God just so we could be lukewarm. We were specially designed to be different. The moment we accept God’s salvation, we enter into a life changing relationship with Him. We enter into our new, true selves, striving every day to mirror Christ, not the world. If we want the same things, and we live the same as those without Christ, how can we ever dare claim to be born again Christians? If a person can observe our days without noticing a difference, then we are missing the point of all life. The line is crossed, and we have succumbed to being of the world. Get Jesus out of your pocket. Let Him expand past Sunday. Make the conscious choice to live like Christ in every decision. Your loving Maker will notice these choices and whisper His plan into your ears, because now you are ready to walk in it! Being different is not embarrassing. It’s not awkward. It’s what you’re called to be. The more we are like Him, the closer we are to Him, which truly makes the difference in being different.
