Come To Me

“‘Lord, if it’s you,’ Peter replied, ‘tell me to come to you on the water.’ ‘Come,’ he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.”
Matthew 14:18-29

For Peter, it was about the water. It was about the obstacle. It was about the problem in front of him. For Jesus, it was just about Peter coming forward. The waves didn’t matter. The wind made no difference. The fact that Jesus was calling Peter to do the impossible is not the focal point of this story. It’s not about the feat of the wave, but the feet of Peter. It always comes down to just going to Jesus. It’s not about getting over the pain. It’s not about accepting the circumstance as fair. It’s not about trying to resolve or defeat the rejection, the betrayal, or the stress. It’s so simple. You just need to come to Jesus. He is ever-faithful. He will always handle those details that so easily distract and hurt us. When we focus on Him, our feet move forward to Him. Before we even realize, we’ve passed over all!
