In The Boat

“But He said to them, ‘It is I; don’t be afraid.’ Then they were willing to take Him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.”
John 6:20-21
The winds were fierce. The waters were wild. Waves crashed all about the disciples. Yet the Savior Christ was faithful. He went to them, giving them His perfect presence. However, our King is a King of choice and free will. He is so gracious and so very willing, but He is waiting on us. We just need to trust His soothing voice and welcome Him into our boat-whatever that boat may look like. Maybe it’s a job transition. Maybe it’s a relationship.  You’ve tried everything you could. You’re worn down to the core. Sometimes, this is what it takes. Sometimes, a boisterous storm is necessary for you to realize that you can’t handle this; you can’t fix it. But your Savior’s come, and He’s been waiting for you to admit that this particular storm is bigger than you are. He’s been waiting for you to be willing to take Him in the boat, in the job insecurity, in the relationship. Let Him in. Let Him lead. Sometimes, He will take you to a new possibility. Sometimes, loveless, He safely brings you precisely where you were headed. He knows the desires of your heart. Offer your boat to His perfect direction.
