Character In The Light

“You can't keep your true self hidden forever; before long you'll be exposed. You can't hide behind a religious mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known. You can't whisper one thing in private and preach the opposite in public; the day's coming when those whispers will be repeated all over town.”
Luke 12:2

Character is living what you believe. There comes a point when believing is simply not enough. Just because you don’t full out choose wrong does not exclude you from the standard of character. You have what it takes to flee evil. The fortifying power of Jesus Christ is inside of you! It’s within His power to say “no!” However, we don’t always realize this power. We hide. We get alone. We whisper.  Being and doing one thing in private for the main reason that it is in private is the opposite of character. The fact that one’s actions need to be hidden proves the extreme lack of character. Lack of accountability gives vast room for yielding to the flesh. We are to be the light in the dark, not the ones turning the light off. That’s not what Jesus willed for you. He didn’t surrender Himself to an incomprehensible murder so that you could surrender to whatever feels good. Hold this tightly as a reminder. You’re taking Jesus-very much alive inside you-where you go and you’re making Jesus do what you’re doing. He puts within us courage and conviction. He that is in you is enough. Moral excellence-that is the character to strive for and chase after with desperation.
