Compartmentalizing

The Lord is great and worthy of our praise; no one can understand how great he is.
Psalm 145:3

It is so easy to compartmentalize our lives, giving only a certain allotted space for different aspects of our lives, including our relationship with God. Is the Creator of countless intricate galaxies actually fitting into the day slot, time frame, and limited space in which you decided for Him? If we were fully honest, separating our lives-forcing God where He is convenient-is emptying. He’s not filling you. He’s not restoring you. He’s not seeming even to communicate with you anymore. He’s not blessing you. He’s millions of miles away. Is He really? He never left you, because God keeps His word. He promised never to leave, so He never will. He is unchanging. He is love. He is redemption, strength, forgiveness, endurance, and hope. We cannot limit God in who He is, but we often fall into the mistake of limiting who He is in our lives. We confine His presence. We listen when it’s Sunday morning. We obey when it already fits our lifestyle, yet we blame God when we feel a distance? Be so thankful that He remembers our fallen tendencies. Change your priorities, your time, and your perspective through your free, spacious, loving relationship with Christ. In order to experience all God is and all God does, we must cut down the walls of His confinement. We must give Him all we are.
