When Sin Abounds
“Moreover the law entered that the offense
might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.”
Romans 5:20
One man burst through theater nine's doors, initiating the most devastating one man massacre in American history. One man changed the history of our country. He
shattered the very definition of security. He now forces millions to look over
their shoulders, questioning their safety. One man personally stripped twelve hearts
of pulsation. Seemingly without a second thought, one man made the choice to
kill, steal, and destroy. Immediately the media researched and reported the
identity of this one man: his name, his education background, and his family’s
response. The American people demand to know who would do this, so the media
continues to indulge them, showing the man’s picture every half hour. People want a clear
idea on where to channel their hatred.
That one man.
Yet, another Man already forever changed the history of the
world. It is He offers unmovable security. He personally enters the hearts of millions,
breathing purpose, hope, and peace to each individual one. Seemingly without a
second thought, this One Man made the choice to suffer, die, and resurrect- for you -to extend a path from Heaven
to man, to provide a life of purpose, to plan, provide, and walk with you
through every day. This is the man we should be constantly researching, constantly sharing, and constantly rediscovering. It's His face we should be seeking.
Evil may abound. Unpredictable mankind will always choose to do
unpredictable things. That’s free will. That’s man’s choice, and those choices
will daily grow more perverse. Sin expands, but God’s unrelenting grace will
always expand further, farther, and deeper. Man has room to choose, but God
still holds it all in His hands. His love is more. His plan is more. His mercy
needs never to be questioned, no matter what seems to go wrong in the world. Never for
one second does God lose control. He’s never surprised, and He never panics.
Heaven is not scrambling, trying to patch up the mess. God sits on His throne,
and calmly reveals the good He’s planned for you. His arms alone offer absolute security
And the devil, who deceived them, was
thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had
been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelation 20:10
The story is written, and the ending is already
revealed.
God wins.
